Agropoli

Agropoli is an ancient marine town found in a beautiful position, on a promontory that dominates one of the most beautiful bays of the Campagnia Region. Throughout the centuries (paternity it seems going back to the Byzantines), there were many battles with pirates and corsairs however Agropoli also went through a good period under the protection of the Bishop of Capaccio and the Aragona House.
Legend narrates that Saint Paul passed through Agropoli during his journey from Reggio Calabria to Pozzuoli, as did Saint Francis of Assisi. Agropoli is renowned as one of the main fishing towns, where you can find the wonders of an ancient town and a modern town offering all that is needed. In the low season Agropoli has a population of 25.000 people whereas in the high season the population hits 70.000.
Agropoli, thanks to it’s wonderful climate offers a great tourism for the spring and autumn seasons. It has a central location which facilitates reaching the very close island of Capri, Salerno, Amalfi Coast, the Grotto (Caves) of Pertosa, the Monastery of Padula. Sea, sun and beaches, tennis courts and fun parks, discos, dancing halls, pubs, pizzeria’s and restaurants, the ancient town are all things that make the town of Agropoli the pearl of the Cilento Coast, a jewel that many do not yet know.
